Queensland Defends Their Title as Champions

The 2023 State of Origin series has come to an end with the Queensland Maroons claiming a hard-fought victory in the second and final game of the series. The Maroons defeated the New South Wales Blues in a thrilling match held at the sold-out Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane, Queensland.

The Maroons were determined to make amends for their loss in Game 1 and came out with a vengeance. They dominated the opening exchanges of the match and scored the first try through winger Murray Taulagi in the 12th minute. The Blues responded with a try of their own from center Matt Burton, but the Maroons extended their lead with a field goal from halfback Daly Cherry-Evans.

The Blues fought back in the second half, with back-to-back tries from hooker Api Koroisau and fullback Latrell Mitchell tying the game at 16-16. However, the Maroons refused to be denied and regained the lead with a penalty goal from Cherry-Evans. With time running out, the Blues desperately searched for a winning score, but the Maroons defense stood firm and secured a 18-16 victory.

The win marks Queensland's second consecutive series victory and their 12th in the last 14 years. It was a special night for the Maroons players, who were able to celebrate their triumph in front of their passionate home crowd.
